J.D. Powe is a technology entrepreneur, investor, and cultural producer with more than two decades of experience building organizations at the intersection of data, education, and media. He is the co-founder and Executive Chairman of LinkIt!, a

K–12 data intelligence platform that helps school systems translate complex student information into actionable insights that support improved academic outcomes and long-term planning.
Across his career, Powe has focused on developing tools and strategies that enable
institutions to use data more effectively for decision-making, performance measurement, and organizational growth. He is also an active angel investor, advising early-stage companies in education technology, digital media, and data platforms.
Complementing his work in education and technology, Powe has made significant
contributions to the cultural sector as a curator, publisher, and collector. He is the
Founder and Publisher of Permanent Record, a quarterly print publication dedicated to original, unconventional storytelling across culture, science, and the arts. His curatorial work explores the intersection of art and natural history, with exhibitions presented at institutions including the Morbid Anatomy Museum, The Adirondack Experience, and ApexArt Gallery.
Over the past 20 years, Powe has assembled a world-renowned natural history
collection featuring rare Victorian-era taxidermy, including intricate dioramas and
historically significant specimens that illuminate the craftsmanship and cultural context of 19th-century collecting practices. His exhibitions and writing often examine the evolving relationships between science, art, and interpretation—topics of particular relevance to museums and public audiences.
He is the author of Best Friends Forever (Abrams, 2021), a visual and historical
exploration of preserved taxidermy pets dating back to the mid-19th century.
Powe holds a B.A., magna cum laude, in the History of Science from Harvard University.
